The mission of the Friends of the Turtle Lake Library is to raise funds for a much needed larger public library that will meet the needs of our growing community.

Our goal is:

  • to better serve our community's educational, professional and recreational needs,

  • to provide free access to information,

  • promote literacy in our low income area, and

  • provide quiet areas for students to complete homework and for adults to search for jobs and information.

We are also interested in promoting the growth, development and greatest possible use of the Turtle Lake Public Library by expanding programs and maximizing its role and usefulness in the community and enriching the library's resources through funds derived from memberships, special projects, gifts, endowments, and bequests.

After seven years of hardwork, dedication, and fundraising, the Friends of the Turtle Lake Public Library can proudly state that we have accomplished our mission to help raise funds for a larger public library.

Anyone interested in becoming a Friend of the Turtle Lake Public Library, please contact the Library.

Donations Policy

The library will receive donations freely from patrons without stipulating that the materials donated will be put into the library’s circulation. The donated materials may be sold as part of a library book sale or benefit.

For patrons who need a statement of the fair value of the donations for tax deduction purposes, the value assigned to the donations will tend to not exceed one half of the retail or list price of the item depending on the condition of the item. The attending librarian does not have the authority to assign a market value to donated items for purposes of a tax deduction to a charitable organization, such as a public library.
